Cemex, headquartered in Monterrey, Mexico, is an international supplier of products for the construction industry. As Cemex increased in size, IT leaders realized that the volume and variety of operational data they had to process would soon overwhelm their IT environment. For example, when it came to reporting, it was difficult to achieve a consolidated view of financial and operational activities, which severely impacted decision-making throughout the company. The corporate comptroller, responsible for providing critical financial and operational information to the vice president of finance, was especially challenged to manage the influx of information.
